A hurricane is an intense, rotating oceanic weather system that has maximum continued winds exceeding 119 km/hr (74 mph). It forms and intensifies over tropical oceanic regions.

Hurricanes are generally smaller than storms in mid-latitudes, typically about 500 km (311 miles) in diameter. At the ocean's surface, the air spirals inward in a counterclockwise direction. This cyclonic circulation becomes weaker with height, eventually turning into clockwise (anticyclonic) outflow near the top of the storm. It was early in the morning we left Ubud and travelled to Gili Air which is one of three islands of Lombok. It took 4 hours in total by boat. The travelling was not bad but it was a hot day. I said to Jane on the slow boat " It's alright babe, it won't be so hot and stuffy once we get moving."

When we got to Gili Air it was still quite so we were able to get a bungalow near-the beach for about $ 15 a night plus breakfast. We shared our room with quite a number of geckos. Some of them were quite large ones.

The weather was still hot when I went diving. Jane waited for me at the seashore. She observed some fishermen who had just caught some fish. She did not want to dive because she had a trauma with sea animals. We had three days here which we spent walking around the island which takes about an hour. Every night, we sat on the couches near the beach and watched the waves and the stars.

It was a fantastic journey that I ever had.

THE SMARTEST PARROT

Once upon time, a man had a wonderful parrot. There was no other parrot like it. The parrot could say every word, except one word. The parrot would not say the name of the place where it was born. The name of the place was Catano.

The man felt excited having the smartest parrot but he could not understand why the parrot would not say Catano. The man tried to teach the bird to say Catano, however the bird did not say the word.

At first, the man was very nice to the bird but then he got very angry. “You stupid bird!” pointed the man to the parrot. “Why can’t you say the word? Say Catano! Or I will kill you” the man said angrily. Although he tried hard to teach, the parrot would not say it. Then the man got so angry and shouted to the bird over and over; “Say Catano or I’ll kill you”. The bird kept not to say the word of Catano.

One day, after he had been trying so many times to make the bird say Catano, the man really got very angry. He could not bear it. He picked the parrot and threw it into the chicken house. There were four old chickens for next dinner “You are as stupid as the chickens. Just stay with them” Said the man angrily. Then he continued to humble; “You know, I will cut the chicken for my meal. Next it will be your turn, I will eat you too, stupid parrot”. After that he left the chicken house.

The next day, the man came back to the chicken house. He opened the door and was very surprised. He could not believe what he saw at the chicken house. There were three death chickens on the floor. At the moment, the parrot was standing proudly and screaming at the last old chicken; “Say Catano or I’ll kill you”.

Kita Lawan Tapi Sayang

           Di sebuah rumah sederhana yang dihuni oleh Tata dan Bu Manti, janda tua penjual nasi kuning di pasar dan anak gadisnya yang baru saja beranjak ke kelas 8. Kehidupan mereka sangat pas-pasan setelah ditinggal oleh ayahnya.
Bu Manti berkata, “Nak, hari ini Ibu kurang enak badan. Jadi, nanti tolong antarkan nasi kuning ini ke pasar sebelum kamu berangkat sekolah.”, sambil batuk-batuk dan tampak pucat pasi. Tata menjawab, “Iya Bu. Akan saya antarkan nasi kuning itu. Obatnya sudah  diminum?” . Bu Manti yang tampak lesu hanya menggeleng, “Dengan apa ibu membeli obat tersebut? Jangankan obat, untuk sesuap nasi saja kita harus bersyukur. Sudahlah, jangan dipikir. Ayo cepat berangkat!”. Dengan sepeda mininya Tata bergegas berangkat dan meletakkan di kerenjangnya sekantong kresek besar.
Tidak seperti biasanya Tata datang terlambat. Dikarenakan ia harus mengantarkan beberapa bungkus nasi kuning ke pasar. Mau tidak mau harus mengantarkan bungkusan tersebut jika ia ingin makan untuk esok.
Sesampainya di kelas ia bertemu dengan Fafa, “Faf, hari ini tidak ada PR, kan?”, tanya Tata dengan muka gugup. Fafa pun menjawab, “Tidak. Ta, Ibu mu sakit lagi? Kok kamu datang terlambat?”, sambil memegang tangan Tata. Tata dengan sedih menjawab, “Iya, sudah seminggu ini ibuku batuk-batuk yang tak kunjung sembuh.” Fafa memberikan bantuan, “Jangan sedih ya! Aku punya obat dari ayahku, bawa saja!,” sambil menyodorkan seplastik tablet obat milik ayahnya di klinik. Tata membalas seraya tersenyum riang, “Terimakasih ya!”.
Bel istirahat pertama berdering, para siswa riang gembira menyambutnya. Setelah menaklukkan materi pelajaran yang cukup melelahkan mereka berhamburan keluar kelas dan bergerombol untuk segera menuju kantin. Berbagai macam makanan ringan dan aneka minuman tersedia. Tinggal meletakkan selembar kertas alat transaksi atau logam di kotak pembayaran mereka bisa mengambil makanan atau minuman, karena kantin di sekolah Tata adalah kantin kejujuran .  Sedangkan siswa lain yang beragama Islam, tidak kedatangan tamu dari bulan, dan tentunya niat segera bergegas ke masjid untuk menunaikan sholat duha. Namun ada juga yang dikejar-kejar oleh Pak Sumaji hingga naik pohon mangga agar mau sholat. Di perpus juga ramai dikunjungi para kutu buku.
Di dekat lapangan basket tampak Tata yang termenung karena tidak mempunyai uang saku, dia hanya bisa memandangi orang berlalu-lalang dengan segenggam snack, nasi bungkus, jus jambu, sebotol es jeruk, dll. Tata bergumam, “Sepertinya enak ya ! Seandainya aku punya uang. Padahal Mbak Nine sudah menyisihkan seplastik es teh untukku.” Seru Tata seraya mengecapkan bibir mungilnya dan menunduk.
Tiba-tiba Yega menghampirinya seraya berkata, “Ta, ada surat titipan dari Febe!”, kata Yega sambil mengulurkan secarik kertas. Tatapun segera menjawab, “Oh! Terimakasih ya!”. Tata segera membaca kata per kata dari isi surat tersebut.
Ta, jujur ya ! Sebenarnya apa salahku sama kamu ? Kenapa kamu selalu menganggapku sebagai sainganmu? Setiap apa yang kuinginkan selalu tak sama denganmu. Kalau memang kamu benci sama aku, kenapa tidak kamu bilang dari dulu. Semua kata-katamu itu omong kosong.
Seketika butiran air mata Tata bergulir perlahan membasahi pipinya. “Kenapa Febe marah sama aku? Aku tidak pernah menganggap dia sebagai sainganku. Kita seorganisasi, apa gunanya juga buatku. Dia terburu-buru mengambil kesimpulan”, gumamnya yang tengah terisak-isak. Yega pun meyodorkan bahunya untuk tempat Tata bersandar, “Ta, mungkin dia lagi banyak masalah. Jangan diambil hati, nanti dibicarakan baik-baik. Kita sebagai pelajar memang bersaing. Tapi bukan bersaing dalam ketenaran, tapi dalam prestasi.” Tata menyaut, “Tapi Ga, dia menuduhku! Apapun bisa terjadi.” Yega berusaha menegarkan Tata, “Ya sudah, untuk lebih jelasnya ayo kita tanyakan pada Febe secara langsung supaya tidak terjadi kesalahpahaman!”.
Sambil menyeka air mata di pipinya, Tata mengikuti seruan Yega. Namun ketika hendak melangkahkan kaki, bel masuk pun berdenting. Dalam kelaspun konsentrasi Tata terpecah, hingga soal yang mudahpun ia keserimpet. Lain hal dengan Febe, di kelas ia menampakkan wajah sangar dan penuh dendam dengan Tata. Ia bergumam, “Huuh..Kenapa tak ku keluarkan saja dia sebagai kandidat yang ikut lomba Agapala (Lomba Pramuka)!”. Yegapun yang duduk di bangku depannya mendengar dan langsung menyaut, “Heh Feb, kamu seharusnya konsisten. Jangan mencampurkan urusan pribadi dengan organisasi.” Febe seketika menimpali, “Kamu tidak tahu apa-apa. Jangan sok jadi pahlawan!”. Yega dengan rendah hati menjawab, “Ya sudah, aku tidak ikut campur!”
Hingga bel pulang berdering, Tata dan Yega tak dapat menjumpai Febe. Sampai materi pelajaran berakhirpun Tata nampak kehilangan asa. Sepulang sekolah, biasanya diadakan latihan untuk persiapan Lomba Agapala, namun Tata tak kuat hati untuk bertemu dengan Febe. “Faf, maaf ya aku hari ini atau bahkan seterusnya tidak bisa latihan. Bagaimana aku mau latihan, kalau Ketuanya saja marah sama aku.”, seru Tata pada Fafa. “Jangan begitu, kami tidak bermakna tanpa kamu.”, rayu Fafa.
Tiba-tiba Febe berlari menuju Tata dan Fafa, namun ada sebongkah batu bangunan yang hendak menjatuhi Febe. Seketika Tata mendorong Febe hingga batu tersebut jatuh tepat di sampingnya. Febe yang tangah malu karena telah berhutang budi meminta maaf, “Maafkan aku! Kemarin aku terpancing emosi dengan gosip yang beredar. Tata menjawab sambil menitikkan air mata, “Iya, kita memang lawan. Lawan dalam prestasi. Namun kita satu tim, kamu partnerku!”. Fafa berkata, “Jangan hanya karena masalah pribadi regu kita bubar.”, seraya tertawa. Tata dan Febe akhirnya saling mengulurkan tangan dan berdamai. “Ayo kita beli es di Mbak Nine .. !!!”, seru Febe sambil menggandeng tangan Tata dan Fafa. Mereka bertiga berlari riang di siang yang panas itu. Pak Sumaji yang mengetahui hal tersebut bergumam,”Wah namanya anak baru gede, hal kecil saja jadi berantem! Setelah itu baikan lagi. Jadi seperti siklus hidrologi.”, seraya tersenyum dan bergegas mengejar anak-anak nakal yang tak mau sholat Dhuhur berjama’ah di masjid sekolah.
